High beam headlights
The high beam is on. This symbol is always blue — the only lamp of that colour on the dashboard.
These lamps are not about a fault: they say a system is switched on, or remind you of something simple to do.
What to do now
- Dip the lights when you see an oncoming car or catch up with one ahead.
- ⚠️ If it comes on by itself with the low beam, the stalk switch is usually to blame: its contacts burn.
- The blue colour is deliberate: it cannot be mistaken for a warning and disturbs night vision less.
- Automatic high beam switches itself off because of a dirty camera by the mirror, and in rain or snow. That is protection against dazzling others, not a fault.
- If the high beam is dead on both sides while the low beam works, check its own fuse and relay: it is fed separately.
