Misfire detected with low fuel level

Misfire detected with a low fuel level. Before looking for a fault, fill up: on the last of the tank the pump picks up air, especially in corners and on hills. If the code comes back on a full tank, then it is about the fuel system after all.
A code is not a diagnosis. It says which check failed, not which part to replace. Clearing it without repair only means the car will report it again in a few trips.
