ABS
The anti-lock braking system is switched off. The brakes still work, but under hard braking the wheels can lock and the car will slide.
An amber lamp means you can drive on, but do not put it off. The car runs in a protective mode and usually drinks more.
What to do now
- You can drive on, but brake earlier and more gently than usual — especially in the wet.
- The most common cause is a corroded connector or a cut wire at the wheel sensor, not the ABS unit itself.
- Read the code: it will name the exact wheel.
