ESP — stability control
If the symbol blinks, the system is working right now — the car is slipping. If it glows steadily, the system is off and will not intervene in a skid.
An amber lamp means you can drive on, but do not put it off. The car runs in a protective mode and usually drinks more.
What to do now
- Blinking on a slippery road is normal — just slow down.
- Steady means the system is off — check you have not pressed the button by accident.
- If you have not, the cause is usually the same as for ABS: a wheel or steering angle sensor.
